Dum aloo in Pressure cooker

Ingredients:

  • Potato(chopped)-5
  • Onion(chopped)-2
  • Tomato(chopped)-2
  • Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
  • Schezwan chutney(optional)- 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1tsp
  • Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder-1/3 tsp
  • Salt to taste or 1.5 tsp
  • Cooking oil- 4 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves

Preparation of Dum Aloo :

  1. Turn on the flame and heat the oil in pressure cooker pan.
  2. Fry the Potatoes on medium flame for 3-4 minutes  and keep it aside.
  3. Again add Oil to the same pan.
  4. Add bay leaves and cumin seeds , fry it properly.
  5. Fry the slices of onion for 2-3 minutes till it turns light brown.
  6. Add 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste and mix it well. let it cook for 30 secs.
  7. Add 1 tsp each of all the spices and roast them completely
  8. Next, Add Tomato to the pan (Add the total amout of salt for tomato to cook faster).
  9. Cover the lid and let them on cook on medium flame for 3-4minutes.
  10. Further, add the fried potato pieces and 1 tbsp od schezwan chutney(optional) and mix it well.
  11. Add 1/2 cup water to the pan and stir it well.
  12. Close the lid of pressure cooker , and it it cook on low-medium flame with 2 whistles.
  13. once the cooker cools down , open the lid carefully.
  14. Check for Potatoes to be cooked.
  15. Serve the curry in a serving bowl.
